Eva Shockey has a message for vehement antis: she's not sorry for being a hunter.
Last month, Eva Shockey, co-star of Jim Shockey's Outdoor Adventures on the Outdoor Channel, received a wave of negative comments from anti-hunters after posting pictures of her North Carolina bear hunt to Facebook. One comment suggested Shockey should have kill her pet dog instead of the 500-pound black bear she harvested.
Shockey's poised response to the comment prompted national media coverage. In turn, the hunting community quickly rallied behind the young huntress. That outpouring of support partly inspired Shockey to create a t-shirt bearing a bold message: "I'LL NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR BEING A HUNTER."
"As hunters, we need to stand strong, unite as one and NEVER apologize for being who we are!" Shockey wrote in an email. "We should focus our energy on being the best hunters we can be by challenging ourselves to be ethical, respectful and responsible so as to humbly uphold our proud heritage. Now, let's get out there and enjoy the great outdoors!"
Shockey is selling the shirts as part of a limited-time campaign until Dec. 8. The shirts come in a variety of colors and sizes for both men and women. If you're interested in purchasing one, click here.
