High on the list of things you never want to see while out in the field is a rattlesnake den like this one.
This videographer, YouTube user Michael Delaney, got up close and personal with a huge group of Montana rattlesnakes.
Most likely these are prairie rattlesnakes, known as the only venomous snake found in Montana. The often make their homes in the arid grasslands and ponderosa pine savannas, and den in south-facing slopes with rock outcrops.
If you're afraid of snakes, find some other video to watch. Here's hoping this guy had his camera on a very long pole.
We debated over including an Indiana Jones quote, but thought it was too obvious. The sound of their rattles is almost deafening, and it only seems to get louder as the video goes on.
Plus, the snakes seem to get bigger as the camera moves around the den area. The one towards the end, around the 1:50 mark, looks huge. The craziest part? We say it's the group that slides down the hill at 1:11. Terrifying!

This clip should serve as a healthy reminder to always be aware of your surroundings, and to invest in a good pair of snake-proof boots.
