A man that loved raising exotic animals ended up being gored to death by his red stag.
Several years ago, a Harrison County man in his 60s was killed by his pet deer. Yes, it actually happened.
Gerald Rushton, according to reports, was raising a European Red Stag on his property along with other animals.
Rushton approached the stag to feed it, and the 550-pound animal became aggressive, charged and pinned Rushton against a fence. Hear more of the story from this news report.
More from Wide Open Spaces:
Rushton was gored several times and trampled.
Apparently, the red stag was rutting, and though it was a pet, deer can be very dangerous and aggressive during the rut.
