This Deer Doesn't Quite Clear a High Fence, and It's Captured on Camera

This deer tries to jump a high fence that's, well, frankly too high.

We've all heard of, or maybe even seen a deer leap over a fence that seems way too high like it was nothing. Unfortunately, it doesn't always turn out that way.

Florida Backwoodz, an online Florida hunting community, uploaded the video to YouTube. A driver was filming three does trotting on the side of a country road when she got this clip.

Here's the video:

In the video, three does try and make a break for it by jumping over a high fence. The first doe to give it a go hits the fence about halfway up in such a way that it turns into a catapult launching him into backwards into the air. It seems like the doe was okay, as it quickly got back up and ran away.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture claims that whitetail deer can jump to heights of 15 feet, but that it's a rarity for them to clear a fence or other structure that high.

When motivation is a factor, like a vehicle that's charging straight for it, a deer can do some incredible things. But with that motivation likely comes a fair amount of panic and disregard for personal well being, so we can't really blame this doe for bashing into the fence and springing back towards the road.

With a little practice, she may be able to take it one day.

Oh, and one more thing. Anyone driving in areas like this might want to invest in a good brush guard.
