A cemetery is no place for a deer, especially once the gates have closed. Watch this lady's lucky rescue.
A cemetery can be a spooky place, especially during the witching hour. At least, that was the case for this luckless lass, who found herself stuck between two gate posts after she decided to move on to greener pastures.
The sticky situation happened at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Jersey, just a day before Halloween. The Totowa Fire Rescue Team got the call for a rescue at 6:15 am and quickly sprung into action. Ron Bombaro captured what transpired next and posted this footage to YouTube.
Here's New Jersey's finest at work:
A tarp was used to calm the frightened doe, and then the hydraulic spreader was employed to pry the bars apart. As you saw, though, she almost got wedged in once again! Silly deer.
Great work by the Totowa Fire Rescue Team. Your service to the community--including animals in distress--is to be commended.
Firefighters at the scene said the doe sustained a wound to its side but is expected to recover fully.
