Eddie Ray Routh was found guilty for shooting Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield.
Former Marine Eddie Ray Routh was sentenced to life in prison without parole in a Stephenville, Texas courthouse yesterday evening. Ruth admitted to killing Kyle and Littlefield on Feb. 2, 2013 and showed little remorse when read his sentence.
Chris Kyle has become a name that everyone recognizes since the movie "American Sniper," documenting Kyle's life and tours as a Navy SEAL, was released earlier this year. The day of the murder, Kyle and Littlefield were taking Routh to a gun range near Dallas when Routh opened fire on both the men. He admitted to the crime but initially plead insanity. Prosecutors proved that Routh had been drinking and smoking marijuana the morning of the crime so the jury ultimately rejected Routh's insanity defense.
Taya Kyle, Chris Kyle's widow, was present at the hearing but appeared to become upset and left the courtroom before the final verdict.
