This bull elk is enjoying a "party for one," and he's not afraid to get a little dirty.
What's not to love about this trail camera capture? The quality is phenomenal for starters. But more importantly, it showcases a brute of a bull elk thrashing, splashing, and relaxing in a "made for one" wallow pit.
Bull elks use wallow pits before and during the rut. Think of them as an advertising campaign to attract a mate, with the pungent odors basically being the billboard. Bulls will bathe in these watering holes, covering their bodies with the tempting scent of urine.
It's the elixir of love, if you're an elk!
You won't find wallow action on the web any better than that! Definitely 'in your face' with some incredible behavioral captures.
We're just glad this video doesn't offer smell as a bonus option for viewing.
