They say it’s better to be lucky than good. Well, this 12-year-old’s beginner’s luck is absolutely amazing.
Some outdoorsmen hunt for years before they even have an opportunity at an elk. Other outdoorsmen wait for years to even get drawn for an elk tag, and then still never see one.
Yet for some, beginner’s luck is all they need.
12-year-old Cody Hassell was one such hunter that just so happened to tag out on his elk during opening day of the 2014 Montana elk season. To add just a little more luck to the story, this was the first time he had ever been hunting in his life.
Besides all this, according to the original story, he harvested this elk with a bow at 20 yards after only seven hours of sitting in a treestand. Cody Hassell attends North Middle School in Great Falls, Mont. when he isn’t in the woods being lucky.
Like I said, sometimes it is just better to be lucky than good.
