Does trekking through inches of deep snow during Canadian winter sound like your idea of fun? This baby polar bear didn't think so either.
While photographing in British Columbia, Canada, Swiss photographer Daisy Gilardini, captured a heart-warming moment between a mother polar bear and her cubs.
Last February, Gilardini spent 13 days filming the bears at Wapusk National Park in Manitoba.
Shortly after exiting their den following their long winter nap, the mama polar bear, "rushed downhill in deep snow when one of the two cubs decided it was much more convenient to hitch a ride on mama's butt."
A prime example of being in the right place at the right time, Gilardini was able to capture the "extremely funny and totally unexpected behavior" in a series of photographs.
Considering populations of Canadian polar bears are declining and of special concern, photos such as these should be treasured. And if they didn't tug on your heartstrings, I don't know what will.
