Looks like Eau Claire, Wisconsin might be on the verge of a lyme disease problem.
In a recent study, the Eau Claire City-County Health Department released their initial findings regarding deer ticks and lyme disease inside their county.
Unfortunately their findings weren't that great. As a matter of fact, the findings are downright scary. 46% of all ticks captured and tested at one of two county parks were confirmed to carry lyme disease. 36% carried the disease found at the other park.
Those are odds that might make one want to take some precautions when heading outside.

So far, only 100 ticks have been captured for testing divided between the two county parks, so the testing sample is relatively small. However, the statistics speak for themselves.
Make sure you protect yourselves and check your pets after you head outside.
