Alien Gear Review: ShapeShift Hook & Loop Holster

Here's a close look at Alien Gear's new ShapeShift Hook & Loop Holster.

Sometimes "concealed" needs to mean "within easy reach."

Alien Gear Holsters was well aware of this, and applied a solution in the form of the new ShapeShift Hook & Loop Holster.

Alien Gear's Hook & Loop Holster is technically an Expansion Kit to their ShapeShift Core Carry Pack.

With this holster system, you can literally stick your holster wherever you need it. It's a cool (and super useful) addition to the capabilities of the ShapeShift Holster.

After reading the instructions, the Hook & Loop Holster Expansion Kit easily attached to my ShapeShift Shell in just over a minute. I had the ShapeShift Shell set up to fit my Glock 17 Pistol, and I was ready to see what this addition could do.

The Expansion Kit is backed with Velcro, and the adhesive sheets supplied are put where you need to stick your holster. When you apply the Velcro sheets, it's recommended that you allow 24 hours for the adhesive to take maximum grip.

Then you can stick your holstered pistol where you need it when you aren't already carrying it on your person.

For fun, I tried to think of all the non-obvious places you could use this thing. How about under your office desk, on the bed frame, or behind the front door? The possibilities are pretty endless. And the really nice thing is you can attach this holster system in moments, then convert it back just as quickly to your concealed carry Alien Gear Expansion Kit.

Alien Gear Holsters explains things a little more thoroughly in this video.

After testing out the Alien Gear ShapeShift Hook and Loop Holster, I think it's a pretty great addition to the product line, as long as you have the need. This Expansion Kit paired with the Drop Leg, Molle Holster, Ankle Holster, Car Holster, Shoulder Holster, and OWB Holster and IWB Holster options makes the ShapeShift the ultimate in handgun carry systems.

Be sure to check out the ShapeShift Hook and Loop Holster and all the other great stuff at the Alien Gear website. They have a 30-day test drive, and all the gear is made in the USA.

They've yet to come out with anything that I really didn't like, or thought was unnecessary, and that's how they're winning my confidence again and again.
