A $5,000 reward is being offered for information in theft of 10 handguns.
Michigan authorities and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are offering up a $5,000 reward for information in the smash-and-grab theft of 10 Kimber handguns from an Otsego, Michigan gun store.
The burglary occurred at Southwick's Guns, Ammo and Gear on Oct. 28 at 11:47 p.m. The two suspects, who wore bandannas to apparently secure their identity, were caught on security cam footage. They were only in the store for 31 seconds.
The thieves got a head start on the law because unfortunately an alarm did not trigger when they smashed out a window to get in according to MLive.com. The incident wasn't discovered until the store was almost ready to open the next morning.
The ATF is offering up $2,500 of the reward, which has been pledged to be matched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Allegan County Sheriff's office at 269-673-0500.
Tips can also be called in to the ATF at 1-800-283-4867 or through the site reportit.com. Information can be submitted anonymously.
In spite of the burglary, the store is keeping high spirits and offered up the handguns the thieves missed in a "left behind sale" advertised on their Facebook page.
