12-Pound Lobster Caught Off California Coast

The size of this lobster caught off the California coast will blow your mind.

This near 12-pound lobster caught off the coast of California last week is back in the ocean where he belongs. The huge lobster caught national attention when Forrest Galante, who starred in an episode of Naked and Afraid, showed off his catch.

Galante was amazed at the size of the lobster caught near Santa Barbara.

“It’s an unbelievable cockroach,” he said of the lobster, which scientists have estimated to be over 70 years old.

Galante originally planned to eat the lobster but somewhere between naming it Albert Girther and taking it home to show his family, he had a change of heart.

“He would probably have pounds and pounds of unbelievably scrumptious meat,” Galante said.

Instead of eating him, Galante took the lobster to a local marine center where they studied it before releasing it back into the Pacific Ocean.

Here’s to hoping Albert Girther lives another 70 years.
