Sometimes you’re not the only one who wants to get in a round of golf on the back nine.
The young elk in this video either really distrusted the golf pin flag or was feeling especially playful. Or maybe it saw the golfers on the course and was trying to join their game.
Either way, this behavior makes for a pretty funny elk video. While watching below, ask yourself what kind of divot fixing tool would be needed to repair the green after this young elk goes “Footloose” all over it.

This video was filmed by the “Urban Wildlife Guy” at Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course in Banff, Alberta, Canada. This is probably a pretty regular occurrence near Banff, which is surrounded by amazing national parks and wilderness areas.
While this young elk plays games with the pin flag, Mom (presumably) looks on from the sidelines, chewing her cud and seeming unalarmed. The radio collar around her neck indicates she’s been around humans before and clearly doesn’t mind watching the ordeal unfold.
Perhaps she’s even thinking, “Ah, to be young again.”
After the course clears again, the young elk comes back for round two. This time, the pin flag doesn’t fight back as much. Instead of waving defiantly in the wind, the pin flag just lies on the ground. But the youngster seems content to gnaw on its prize a little bit, without all the pomp and prance shown on the first hole.
You’ll have to watch the video again to see that hilarious, playful dance that only young animals can pull off.
