Chris Pratt loved break times on the set of Magnificent 7 because he went fishing!
Break time means time to get a line wet for Chris Pratt, and that’s why we love him. During the filming of his latest feature, he did between 100 and 200 hours of fishing!
Chris Pratt has taken the world by storm over the past few years. With great roles in Parks and Rec, Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy, Zero Dark Thirty, and now Magnificent 7… what’s not to like?
Pratt has been vocal about his passion for the outdoors and its importance him and our country. His feelings don’t change while he’s on set.
“This set that they built was on a huge chunk of private land, and there were a couple ponds on there stocked with bass,” Pratt, 37, explained Monday during a Town Hall taping for SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio.
“So I was loving it when the rain would come and they had to shut down production. Everyone was like, ‘God damn it,’ and I was like, ‘I’m going fishing!’ I must have fished 100 to 200 hours.”
Although he caught a ton of fish, he practiced catch and release, unless the fish swallowed the hook. In that case, he would take the bass up to the catering team and have them prepare it for him.
As the saying goes, though, “All good things must come to and end.”
Pratt made the mistake of posting a picture of a bass with the pond in the background on Instagram. The land owner caught a glimpse of it and was furious that they were fishing the ponds.
Pratt explained, with a laugh, “She was pretty furious, and she should be. They were really nice fish and I caught all of them!”
Pratt claims that didn’t stop him, though, and can you blame him? Everyone loves a good day of bass fishing.
Maybe next time he can convince Denzel Washington to get out there.
