Would You Belly Flop for a Date? That’s What Mobula Rays Do

Would You Do Belly Flop To Get A Date That's What Mobula Rays Do

Yes, Mobula rays try to make as big of a splash as possible with a belly flop to attract a mate.

Sometimes it’s tough to stand out from the crowd. One of the things that Mobula rays do in order to get noticed by potential mates is to jump out of the water and make as big of a splash as possible.

It’s thought that that the higher they jump out of the water, the bigger splash that they make, which translates into better odds of finding a desirable mate.

Watch the video to see the incredible acrobatic displays put on by Mobula rays.

It’s an interesting way of attracting members of the opposite sex, but apparently it works for Mobula Rays. I don’t recommend trying this yourself next time you’re at the pool though.
