A Belgian beauty loses a modeling gig with L’Oreal after a hunting photo with a distasteful caption emerges online.
17-year-old Axelle Despiegelaere got the modeling break of a lifetime after she was photographed in the stands at the World Cup in Brazil.
Photos of the Belgian beauty quickly went viral, and the Internet dubbed her ‘most beautiful’ fan at the World Cup.
After seeing the photos, talent scouts from the French beauty corporation L’Oreal contacted Despiegelaere and casted her in a promotional video.
Despiegelaere filmed the spot, but the company cut ties with her after this photo from her Facebook page emerged.

Despiegelaere is posing with an oryx, an antelope species native to the Arabian Peninsula and arid regions of Africa.
The hunting photo is great, but the caption about how she’s “ready to hunt Americans today…haha”, not so much.
It’s unclear as to whether L’Oreal cut ties with Despiegelare over the photo, but I’m going to make an educated guess that the beauty company did not want a game hunter who quips about hunting Americans as one of their representatives. Just a hunch.
The Independent talked to a spokesperson for L’Oreal about their decision to cut the Belgian beauty.
“The spokesperson said that, although the brand was aware of the photograph, it would not comment on whether this was behind the decision to terminate Ms Despiegelaere’s contract. However, they were keen to stress that L’Oréal “no longer tests on animals, anywhere in the world, and does not delegate this task to others.”
This story comes on the heels of the worldwide backlash against 19-year-old big game hunter Kendall Jones, whose Facebook photos of big African game trophies have caused an international uproar.
