Wolves of Banff National Park Sing Together at Sunrise

wolves

These wolves howl up a storm at sunrise, and the sights and sounds are simply mesmerizing.

The howl of a wolf is one of the most recognizable calls in the animal kingdom. When done in unison, it literally can send shivers down the spine. In this rare moment, expertly caught on film, a pack of wolves communicate to each other in splendid harmony in Banff National Park, Alberta.

Wolves howl to assemble the pack, to raise an alarm, to locate each other during bad weather or unfamiliar territory and to communicate across great distances. In some instances, a wolf howl can be heard over areas of 50 sq. miles.

Here’s the video, posted by Photoguide on Youtube (you can fast-forward to around the one-minute mark to go straight to the music).

Pretty incredible, right?
