If you are like most, pulled venison is great anytime.
Hopefully, most of our freezers are full from a fresh harvest of venison over the last few months. Cooking up the same old recipes is good for a little while, but after everything starts tasting the same, you need to switch things up a bit. This is where an Italian style pulled venison recipe comes in.
To get this recipe started, all you really need is a few ingredients, a crockpot, and about eight hours of time. In this quick video that I put together, you can see for yourself just how easy it is.
To break these ingredients down a little more, here’s what you need.
Italian Style Crockpot Pulled Venison
- 1 whole venison roast – halved
- 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup water
- diced banana peppers
- handful of pepperoncini’s
For everything else, combine all the ingredients on top of the roast and place in a slow cooker for eight hours. After the time is up, shred the venison and place it back in the pot and stir everything together.
Serve this over a bun with your favorite toppings, or as you saw in the video, some cole slaw.
Leftovers are great served over a baked potato. Enjoy!
