Rare White Deer Ran Away from Iowa Home After Potential Attack

A driver captures a quick video of a rare white deer roaming upper Iowa.

Late last week, a driver in Iowa caught a glimpse of rare white deer. The video went viral and since, some interesting details have emerged. According to Thonline News, the deer was a pet that escaped the pen when dogs or coyotes broke into the fence.

The farm had multiple deer and one died from the animal that caused the havoc.

Watch the interesting footage.

Irv Behnke is the alleged owner of this white deer. He has been raising deer for over 30 years and has only had one similar escape caused by a predator. The white deer came back a year later.

White deer are protected in Iowa. Brian Preston, executive director of Dubuque County Conservation said, “You cannot kill a white or predominately white deer.”

If anyone sees the deer, they are suggested not to approach it, or attempt to capture it. They can call Behnke at 563-513-8868.
