When Things Don’t Go as Planned, It’s Best to Just Laugh and Smile

Things don’t always go as planned when you’re out on the water; sometimes you just have to roll with it, laugh and smile.

As one angler learned mid-battle, things don’t always go as planned when you’re fishing and sometimes you just have to adapt to the situation and roll with it. A crack in the rod at the cork begins to give way, and eventually comes apart, sending the reel into the guides and the angler into a laughing fit.

The reel is steadily screaming line into the river, leaving him practically helpless to reel in the fish, lost as to what his next move should be.

Of course, how can you be upset when you’re hooked up and hearing the drag sing? The video via the Fly Lords Facebook Page credits Neteland Productions for the filming, and is a good reminder for other anglers on how we should be grateful for our blessings and just enjoy what life throws at us, whether or not we are prepared for it.

Life is short, and as Jerry Garcia sang in the words of the Grateful Dead song “He’s Gone“, there’s “nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.”
