Watch Carolyn McCarthy make a fool out of herself in this 2007 interview with Tucker Carlson when she admits not knowing what a barrel shroud is, even though she introduced and supported gun control legislation that would ban them.
In the interview, Tucker keeps pressing her, asking repeatedly “What’s a barrel shroud?” She kept trying to dodge the question throughout the entire clip, getting more and more uncomfortable the entire time.
Watch the video to see her clueless response when she can’t stonewall anymore and finally answers his question.
“I actually don’t know what a barrel shroud is. I’m assuming it’s a shoulder thing that goes up.” It sounds like she was picturing something along these lines:
No, Ms. McCarthy, a barrel shroud is not the shoulder thing that goes up. A barrel shroud is actually just a simple covering that’s attached to the barrel of a firearm to keep the shooter from burning his or her hand when shooting.
The fixation that gun control advocates like the former Representative McCarthy have with cosmetic features like bayonet lugs, pistol grips, and barrel shrouds is very interesting and shows how clueless they really are about guns. Even though a lot of scary looking guns have barrel shrouds, it does nothing to make a so called “assault weapon” any more deadly.
