Whale Watching Trip in Sri Lanka Turns into Rewarding Sea Turtle Rescue [VIDEO]

Caring crew members of the ‘Raja and the Whales’ whale watching excursion jump into the ocean to perform a touching sea turtle rescue.

A member of the crew of a whale watching boat from Mirissa, Sri Lanka jumped right off the boat in order to rescue a turtle that was drowning in fishing net.

Tourists aboard the boat were able to capture the entire rescue on video!

The turtle was brought on board and carefully cut away from its intrusive netting by crew members using what looked like a machete.

After freeing the sea turtle, they were able to slide the animal back into the ocean, albeit on its back, to begin its journey again without the offending net material.

It’s always good to see humanity step up and take care of wild animals.

Now if we can get humanity to care enough not to cause the problem in the first place, we may be able to spend more time observing nature instead of trying to rescue it.
