This waterbuck escaped a surprise attack from a stealthy crocodile, but only by the narrowest of margins.
As their name implies, waterbuck spend a lot of time in and near water. Not surprisingly, this makes them vulnerable to sneak attacks by crocodiles.
Though taking down a big bull waterbuck is quite a feat for all but the biggest crocodiles, that doesn’t stop them from trying. This particular crocodile attack on a waterbuck was captured on video by a couple of tourists visiting South Africa’s Kruger Park.
Watch the video to see how it all went down.
As you can see, the waterbuck escaped after a tough fight, but it’s not known how severe its injuries were. Though waterbuck a very tough animals, this bull might have just escaped the jaws of a crocodile only to end up as an easy meal for some lions of hyenas later.
That’s how it goes though: life in the African bush is tough and very often short.
