It’s not just another giant spotted bass, it’s the unofficial new world record spotted bass.
With a light frost on the exterior of the boat, Paul Bailey and two friends set out in search of monster spotted bass at Bullards Bar Reservoir in northern California. Bundled up and ready for action, the guys landed several stellar fish throughout the day, though it wasn’t until the afternoon when the biggest bite they could have hoped for actually happened.
Watch in disbelief as Paul reels in the potential world record spotted bass on his trip last year.
Unofficial or not, that’s the fish of a lifetime and one heck of a story to tell!
Due to the unofficial scales used to weigh in Paul’s gigantic spotted bass, this fish cannot actually be considered the new world record. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for an official weigh-in, the group had no choice but to release the fish with only photos, video and a few unofficial weights to keep the story alive. Talk about being a good sport!
Hats off to Paul and they team as they landed not only one potential world record, but several other goliath spotted bass over one day of fishing!
