Watch Terrified Coyotes Flee Mountain Lion in Rocky Mountain National Park

These coyotes want nothing to do with this mountain lion!

Having a cool wildlife encounter is one of the primary reasons to visit our Nation’s National Parks. But this encounter is a little more unique than normal.

That’s because it’s not every day you see two coyotes come face-to-face with a mountain lion!

What a cool encounter! This footage was captured by one of the park’s interns, identified only as M. Hamblen, and posted to the park’s Facebook page yesterday. These two species likely don’t come into contact that often, much less in front of someone with a camera.

Did you notice the tail of that mountain lion? It seemed a bit short, like he’d lost a small piece of it at some point in the past. One tough-looking and angry cat for sure, the coyotes wanted no part of him. And can you really blame them?

It just goes to show, keep a camera handy when visiting a National Park. As the park noted in their post of the video, you just never know what you might see!
