Whether you are an experienced backpacker or not, you will find this POV video of the Appalachian Trail simply amazing!
The Appalachian Trail has long been the staple of freedom and endurance in the outdoor scene for many of years. As an avid backpacker and long distance hiker I can tell you that hiking that trail is a task that many start and very few finish. Bad weather, fatigue, and lost moral all lead to hikers taking taxis and busses back home…but not this guy!
These fine lads were able to not only hike the trail all the way through, but also filmed it for our enjoyment. From Springer Mountain to Katahdin he records a special glimpse of some of the fantastic views this trail has to offer the individual that steps out and keeps on stepping.
We all have fallen in love with time lapse video over the years. Most record a sunset, the stars, or even some plants and flowers blooming. But few, very few have recorded the Appalachian Trail in all her slender and glory! Being able to watch the seasons change and the terrain mix and match its way down the trail is very unique.
This short video is just a snapshot of a larger film production showcasing the A.T. called, The Long Start to the Journey. The makers of the full film had this to say about it.
“The Long Start to the Journey is an intimate and unflinching depiction of the Appalachian Trail, detailing everything from grotesque blisters to uplifting mountaintop moments. The film also explores the rich history of the A.T.: the early battles that were fought in the trail community to determine what the pathway would be and how those often conflicting visions reflect on the trail today. ”
