The first call most hunters use is the box call for turkey hunting. Here’s why.
There are several calls on the market like the friction, wingbone, or mouth call (diaphragm), but none as widely used and successful as the box call for turkey hunting. For many hunters, it is the first turkey call they learn to use.
This is because of how easy it is to learn. Check out this video and see how quickly you can become proficient.
The more you practice, the better at calling you will become. Many hunters only use a box call because of the many different calls you can make on it. From the cluck and purr to the yelp, I have even seen one guy make a gobble.
If you were looking for only one call to take with you, the box call for turkey hunting would probably be your best choice.
