How the U.S. Air Force Reloads the World’s Largest Combat Jet Gun [VIDEO]

world's largest combat jet gun

If you’ve never seen the world’s largest combat jet gun, you’re in for a treat because now you can also see how it works.

The United States Air Force is the proud owner of the GAU-8 Avenger, a seven-barrel hydraulically driven weapon that shoots 30mm rounds.

Check out the awesome video below to see this weapon being loaded and then test fired.

The GAU-8 Avenger is known as the world’s largest combat jet gun and for good reason; The weapon empty weighs 680-pounds and fully loaded an enormous 4,029-pounds. It is not a weapon to be taken lightly.

When you have a weapon as large, and as powerful as it is, and especially one that has the shooting capacity of 4,200 rounds per minute, loading it is not quite as simple as popping in the next magazine.

Wow! That is really all you can say after seeing all the effort that goes into getting this gun ready to fire; and then seeing the instant results that the world’s largest combat jet gun leaves behind.
