U.S. Releases Video of A-10 Warthog Devastating Taliban Vehicle After Insurgent Attack

A-10 Warthog

This newly released video shows the A-10 Warthog devastating a Tailban vehicle in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

On January 24, 2018, the U.S. Air Force Central Command Public Affairs Office released a video of an A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft decimating a Taliban insurgent vehicle after it had attacked local Afghans with a DShK 12.7 mm heavy machine gun.

It was met by the Warthog’s GAU-8 Avenger 30mm, seven-barrel Gatling gun—part of a weapons system that destroyed some 900 Iraqi tanks during the Gulf War in the early 90s.

WARNING: This video may be disturbing.

This video was likely collected from some other aircraft, not the A-10 conducting the strike. It’s possible a remote-piloted drone providing intelligence and reconnaissance captured the footage.

It looked like it was driving through a hurricane when the 30mm cannon connected. The A-10 is one of the toughest, most resilient aircraft our fighting men and women have ever used, and after watching this, you can see why.
