Trout Unlimited talks to the importance of maintaining our public lands for the enjoyment of all people.
The importance of maintaining our public lands has never become more readily apparent then right now. With recent moves indicating the intent to sell-off some public lands we are all at risk of losing something very special.
Like all things this is a very slippery slope with moves to sell off public land. Once it starts the door is open and it may become very appealing to federal and state authorities as a readily available way to generate quick revenue dollars.
What must always be remembered is that the model of public lands access is almost unique to North America alone. We are blessed with vast areas that allow for fishing, hunting, camping and enjoyment for all; not just some elite landholders. The clearest way to know that this is a precious resource is to get out and enjoy it. Hunters and anglers inherently know how important this access and resource is and are typically in the lead in protecting and defending this resource.
Consider joining an organization like Trout Unlimited or Delta Waterfowl. These, an like minded organizations, are what provide a voice on your behalf to politicians and legislative bodies to keep the land for the people.
