Fishing for California’s beautiful golden trout is a difficult proposition because of the rugged terrain surrounding where these fish call home.
That does not keep this group of four anglers from making the trek into the high Sierra in pursuit of one of the most beautiful trout species there are. The trip in is long and intense. These guys have to face the elements in the high mountains where a sunny summer’s day can quickly turn into a taste of winter in just a few minutes. Most importantly, these guys want to highlight this beautiful trout to motivate others to help protect these unique fish.
Fishing in the Sierra Nevada mountains has long been on my list of destinations. While I have not made it out there yet, this video definitely whets my appetite and makes me consider planning a summer trip out west to backpack for golden trout in California.
The effort it takes to find these fish means I better start training now.
