This deer better run because this trail camera has caught a wolf only seconds behind.
Run Forrest, Run! As soon as I saw these picture shared by the user, 3fingerapache on Imgur, my first reaction was disbelief in the size of the wolf compared to the deer. Now really I’m just used to coyotes, which are much smaller than wolves when it comes to finding predators on our trail cameras, so seeing this wolf had me doing a double take.
What’s crazier than just a wolf chasing a deer is the timestamp below the pictures. The first picture shows a deer running at 6:04am.
Now the second picture, taken somewhere around 60 seconds later, shows a wolf nose to the ground, headed right in the direction of the deer, at 6:05am.
Now I’m not a deer and cannot reach speeds of up to 45 plus miles per hour, but being chased by wolves in general is too much for me. The good news is a deer can reach top speeds of 47 miles per hour while a wolf can reach top speeds of about 35 miles per hour according to Wolf Country.
That being said, humans can run up to 28 miles per hour, but get me on the treadmill doing anything over 12 miles per hour and I’m falling over like a bowling pin.
Keeping my fingers crossed for the deer hunter’s sake that this deer makes out alright and is seen again on his trail camera or during next hunting season.
