Over the last few years, GunBroker.com has turned into a massive marketplace for new and used guns. Here were top selling guns on Gun Broker in 2014.
It seems like you can find nearly any type of firearm or firearm accessory on Gun Broker these days. However, no matter how big of a variety there seems to be in the number of items for sale on the web site, the same few guns seem to always be the most popular.
On this list, you’ll see what guns were the most popular on Gun Broker in 2014. Gun Broker divides guns into new and used categories, which are further divided according to the type of gun being sold: semi-automatic pistol, revolver, semi-automatic rifle, bolt-action rifle, lever-action rifle, pump shotgun, and semi-automatic shotgun.
Some of the guns on this list make sense, but a few are surprising to me. What do you think?

SIG Sauer 1911
The Sig Sauer 1911 takes the price for the most popular new semi-automatic pistol sold on Gun Broker in 2014. Though I’m sure this is a high quality pistol, I’m mildly surprised that the Sig 1911 in particular was more popular than any of the other new semi-automatic pistols out there, such as the Glock 17 or 19.
The venerable Colt M1911 takes the prize for the most popular used semi-automatic pistol sold on Gun Broker in 2014. This came as no surprise to me: I cannot think of a more popular semi-automatic pistol that people buy used than the M1911.
The Smith & Wesson 686 was the most popular new revolver sold on Gun Broker in 2014. No surprise here: the 686 is a serious revolver for serious shooters.
The Colt Python was the most popular used revolver sold on Gun Broker in 2014. Also no surprise: though it’s no longer produced, the Python is also an outstanding revolver that still has quite a following among shooters.
The Ruger 10/22 was both the top new and used semi-automatic rifle on Gun Broker in 2014. This was also not a big surprise to me. Not only is the Ruger 10/22 a great rifle, but it is inexpensive, both to buy and to shoot. Though the AR-15 is also an extremely popular rifle, it may never approach the popularity of the Ruger 10/22.
Remington Model 700
The Remington Model 700 takes the cake as the most popular new and used bolt-action rifle on Gun Broker in 2014. Like the Ruger 10/22, this is also not surprising in the least. The Remington 700 is another high quality, reasonably priced, and extremely versatile rifle that is popular among hunters and shooters across the country.
Henry Repeating Arms Golden Boy
The Henry Golden Boy was the most popular new lever-action rifle sold on Gun Broker in 2014. This one caught me off guard. If I would have had to guess, I would have picked the Marlin 336 here, but I guess that just shows how much I know.
Winchester Model 1894
The timeless Winchester Model 1894 took the top spot as the most popular used lever-action rifle sold on Gun Broker last year. There is not a single other lever gun that I can think of that can even approach the popularity of this classic.
The Mossberg 930 was the most popular new shotgun that was sold on Gun Broker in 2014. I was a little surprised with this one, but considering the fact that the Mossberg 930 is featured on “Duck Dynasty“, I probably shouldn’t have been.
The Remington Model 1100 was Gun Broker’s top used semi-auto shotgun in 2014. I figured it would be either the 1100 or the 11-87, I guess I was half right then.
Though seeing the Mossberg 500 as the most popular new pump shotgun on Gun Broker in 2014 was not really shocking, I was expecting to see the Remington Model 870 in its place.
Even though new Mossberg 500s are apparently more popular than new Remington Model 870s on Gun Broker, the reverse appears to be true with used pump shotguns. Who knew…
