Top 5 Revolvers of ‘The Walking Dead’

Walking Dead

Hey fans of zombie TV! Here are the top five revolvers from The Walking Dead and how they were featured. It’s a gun guy’s dream list.

Yankee Marshal gives his top five wheelguns from The Walking Dead. If you’re a fan of the show (and who isn’t?) and you’re a gun person, you’ll enjoy this little romp.

Let’s get right to it.

5. Ruger Speed-Six – Introduced in 1972, the Speed-Six was a variant of the Ruger Security-Six. It has fixed sights and a rounded butt, and was supposedly more concealable. The character of Daryl Dixon uses this gun, and it was prominently featured in the episode where Rick Grimes and Daryl meet Jesus.

4. Smith & Wesson Model 29 Snub Nose – This is the shortened version, more or less, of Dirty Harry’s gun. It’s a 2.5-inch barreled, .44 magnum piece that was carried by Michonne and later by Carl.

3. Colt Python – The Python is the most iconic handgun on the show. It is lead character Rick Grime’s main gun. It’s a stainless steel, 6-inch barreled badass weapon. Yankee Marshal also humorously mentions what a lot of us have thought: Why does Rick always aim the gun at people’s feet?

2. Smith & Wesson M&P R8 – This 8-round .357 magnum revolver is Maggie’s handgun in the series. It somehow seems perfect for her character. It’s modern and equipped to be modified, yet it’s also a little old fashioned (it is a revolver, after all), just like Maggie.

1. Colt Detective Special – This little beauty is the gun carried prominently by Carol in the series. It was featured most dramatically in the episode where she killed Lizzy (“Look at the flowers, Lizzy! Look at the flowers!”). This American classic was introduced in 1927 and is chambered primarily in .38 Special.

It’s an interesting choice for YM’s number one gun of the show, but he has an affinity for the Carol character, so it makes sense that he would choose the Detective Special as his favorite.
