What’s a tired seal to do with no land in sight? Ride a whale of course!
Tourists on a whale watching tour off the Baja Peninsula in Mexico were recently treated to a rare sight when a seal took a ride on a humpback whale’s back.
It is believed that the seal was taking advantage of the whale’s feeding habits to catch an easy meal of fish when it got too tired to keep swimming. The seal is a young one and must have used up most of his energy fishing.
It is no surprise that the whale’s expansive back looked like a good place to rest to the young seal. To the delight of all the witnesses, the seal took a quick ride before diving back into the blue water when the whale submerged again.
