If you find yourself in Syracuse, NY soon, check out and eat at gun-friendly diner American Diner.
New York is one of the most heavily anti-gun states in the country. Carrying open or concealed guns is heavily forbidden. Firearms are highly regulated in the state. But amidst the anti-gun fervor is a glimmer of hope: the pro-gun American Diner in Liverpool, New York.
Liverpool is a suburb just outside of Syracuse, NY–home to Syracuse University. While on a business trip to upstate New York last week, I drove nearby to American Diner searching for a hearty breakfast before returning home to Virginia. After I arrived and parked, I came across this sign upon entering the diner:
A diner that encourages legal carry in their restaurant? That seems unheard of in New York, let alone a town like Syracuse!
They call themselves the American Diner because “we can agree to disagree on things. We are more than just a place to eat. This is our ministry. A place to vent” Their tag line is “Eggs & Knowledge: Something you can’t get at any other diner”. They opened for business in 2009.
When perusing a menu, customers will notice several things. They offer a 10% discount for card-carrying National Rifle Association (NRA) members, a 10 percent discount for military members, and a 50% discount for military personnel on duty. The menu also reads, “We welcome legal carry on premise” and “We encourage prayer/grace”.
The diner made national news last month for their Dictator Obama/NYS Special (King Cuomo) Breakfast House Special. Despite some pushback from locals, owner Michael Tassone says customers love dining at his Liverpool, NY establishment because they welcome pro-gun, pro-Constitution, and pro-American viewpoints.
“We talk religions and politics and we encourage people to carry their guns,” said Mr. Tassone to Fox News’ Todd Starnes last month. “The Second Amendment protects all the rest of them.”
I thoroughly enjoyed having breakfast at American Diner last week. Good food, good atmosphere, and good gun-loving folks. If you find yourself in the Syracuse area soon, give these guys and gals your business. To learn more about diner, like them on Facebook and check out their website.
