This Massive Grouper Plays Tug of War with Spearfisherman’s Catch

We love fishing, but let’s not forget that we don’t actually live in the ocean. Fish do.

This spearfisherman faced the long arm of the law from this massive grouper that was just plain sick of losing his dinner. Turn your volume on for this one and enjoy the sounds of what it’s like to watch a fish snag your catch from right in front of you.

As this National Geographic video captions, grouper typically gather around shipwrecks or coral areas in order to not only feed, but to socialize. It’s rare to see such a large grouper in an instance like this. Thank goodness for GoPro, I guess.

The best is the wild ride the grouper takes the spearfisherman on. I would love to know how much force he had behind him there, especially since he was so dedicated to snagging that particular fish for his dinner.

We visit the ocean, but fish like this grouper live there. Let’s leave to them to their own dinners every once in a while, right?
