This massive fish die-off has shocked locals.

This huge number of fish floating dead in Hampton Bays, Long Island, is unbelievable.

Hampton Bays, Long Island, has become the scene of a massive slaughter like locals have never witnessed before. It many thousands of dead fish floating in the Shinnecock Bay. 

These fish, known as Atlantic menhaden or bunker fish, are believed to have died from lack of oxygen. Was there a predator fish in the area that pushed this giant school of fish far into inland waters? This is where oxygen levels were not high enough to support all of them. This might just be the answer to this massive fish die-off.

Authorities don’t believe pollution caused this fish die-off but took samples to be on the safe side.
