Think You’re Good with a Bow? Tom Miranda Nails a Running Blacktail Deer in Alaska [VIDEO]

Running Blacktail Deer

Tom Miranda demonstrated his bowhunting skills by landing an incredible shot on a blacktail deer as it ran past him.

Alaska is known for its bear, moose, and caribou populations, but it is also a great place to hunt Sitka blacktail deer.

They don’t grow quite as large as their cousins, whitetail and mule deer, but they can pose quite a challenge even to experienced hunters.

The buck did not present Tom Miranda with a great opportunity to take a shot as it ran past him. Blacktail deer are nicknamed “grey ghosts” for good reason! However, he demonstrated he is either a very skilled, or very lucky, bowhunter.

The antlers on Sitka blacktail deer normally don’t grow anywhere near the size of those on mule or whitetail deer. This Sitka measured 79 2/8 inches, so it will make a pretty nice trophy.

Great work, Tom!
