Think You Can Shoot Like a Cowboy? Think Again

Watch this SASS member burn through four guns in eight seconds at this Cowboy Action Shootout event.

The Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) is an organization devoted to preserving the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting. They dress in late 19th century cowboy attire, create their own alias, and can only use period era guns.

One of the competitions at their events is called the “Gamer Stage.” Each person must unload a lever action rifle, two single action pistols, and one double barrel shotgun as fast as possible. It is similar to our modern day 3-Gun competitions.

This may seem a little outlandish to some, but these guys take it seriously. As this man is about to demonstrate, you wouldn’t want to be on the wrong end of his barrel.

That was completely insane. He shot 22 rounds from four different single action guns in 8.10 seconds. Can you imagine the amount of practice and ammo he went through to get to that level?

I really hope an SASS event like this happens near my area in the future. I would love to dress the part and head over to watch these guys live. In the meantime I may have to borrow my dad’s lever action and get to practicing.
