Pelican coolers are as tough as you are.
If you are looking for a cooler that is as tough as some of the things you do, Pelican makes some pretty rugged gear that are made to last a lifetime.
Based in Torrance, California, all their products are made in the USA with the outdoorsmen and sportsmen in mind. Their gear is also used by the military, firefighters, and police.
Pelican is famous for ultra rugged cases (phone cases, gun boxes, luggage, and more) and heavy duty lights. But they also make coolers. And these things are made for tough activities. The coolers come in sizes from 20 quarts to 250 quarts. I tested the smallest one.
Pelican coolers are heavy. But for a good reason. These coolers have up to 10 days ice retention, which is important if you have one of these coolers on your bass boat or at hunting camp to put your catch or meat in.
Pelican coolers have press and pull latches with a cool locking mechanism. The 20-quart cooler, as with the other sizes, have built-in cup holders and a beer opener. We took it down to the river so these additions were perfect for our use.
Pelican coolers are complete with the bear resistant certification from the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee, an organization that ensures bears don’t have access to food that is brought into the backcountry.
Pelican coolers are built extremely tough, and for that reason they aren’t the most portable. These coolers are meant to be put on a boat, in the back of a truck, or placed at camp. Therefore, the largest size will most likely be the most useful for sportsmen.
My only qualm about the smaller coolers is that they were hard to transport with the handle provided. Maybe a removable strap should be included? These things are heavy-duty and carrying it with one arm is almost impossible.
Pelican coolers are rugged and well made but not made to travel long distances.
