The Legacy of the Marine Corps: 240 Years and Counting

On the 240th birthday of the Marine Corps, take a minute to find out more about the legacy within.

The Marine Corps can trace its foundation back to 1775, when the Second Continental Congress deemed “two Battalions of Marines” necessary as additions to the country’s military outfits.

Fast forward to 2015, and the celebratory date of November 10 gives us a chance to look back at what has been built, and what it means to be a Marine.

“Reflect on our history, remember those who have sacrificed and reaffirm your commitment to the strengthening of our Corps.”

That quote from 37th Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Robert B. Neller says it all.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Marine Corps’ first major offensive in Vietnam, just one example of the incredible importance of the Marines as a whole.

Join us in wishing the Marine Corps a happy birthday, and if you know anyone who has served in the Marines, share this video with them as a sign of gratitude.
