The Broadhead Bullet: A Shotgun Round With a Built-In Arrowhead

This prototype shotgun round with a built-in broadhead was just begging to be tested.

We've seen some experimental shotgun shells floating through the Internet lately, some which worked better than others.

But the one that raised our eyebrows the most, with an actual application that makes sense, was the Broadhead Bullet concept.

It certainly isn't going to have the cutting diameter of an expandable blade, but it's probably still going to do some serious damage, don't you think?

Check out its first-ever test below:

OK, we aren't entirely sure about the functionality here, whether these would ever pass for archery arrowheads, or if we're strictly looking at a conceptual ammo that doesn't have a direct application.

These Sabot micro-arrows wouldn't be legal for any amalgam of big game bowhunting, even if you were using a crossbow. The typical compound bow arrows, even if they're just field points, can't be transmogrified this way and still be released.

Nonetheless, this arrow blade broadhead idea has got our brain gears turning...

If there's a market for mechanical broadheads with replacement blades that create impressive wound channels, then somehow, someway, these might become legal for hunting uses. Until then, they're going to be strictly reduced to range use. At least they're reaching a significantly higher fps speed.

There are likely kinks to work out before these can become available on the market, but thanks to TAOFLEDERMAUS we at least got a look at the beta process.
