The extent of the Hampton Bay fish kill is even more staggering when seen from a drone.

Earlier this week, we reported on the massive and shocking die-off of bunker fish that happened in Hampton Bay of Long Island, NY. Some are dubbing it the “fishpocalypse.”

The first photos of this incident were pretty shocking, but someone then decided to fly a drone over it. This footage makes the whole thing seem more and more like the prelude to a disaster movie.

Wow. Imagine the stench that’s going to come of this. Fortunately, officials are saying the cause of the die-off was likely simple suffocation from there being too many fish in the water. Earlier worries had suggested chemical contaminants.

The Daily Mail reports that attempts are being made to clean up the mess, and officials will attempt to mask the smell of dead fish with wood chips or lime. Good luck to them; that’s not a job many would want.

One thing is for certain: this is one creepy incident that Long Islanders won’t soon forget!
