Texas hunting season kicks off its firearm portion with opening day today, November 1, 2014.

Plenty of Lone Star State hunters will head to their blinds, stands and fields today for the annual Opening Day of deer and turkey season.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is doing its part to help provide sportsmen and women with all the info they need, including the newly developed Outdoor Annual app. They’ve also made a strong effort to predict how well the season will go, based on past years data, this year’s fawn numbers and the expert biologists’ interpretations of that information.
