Tennessee Turkeys Will Shock Gobble at Anything, Literally

These Tennessee turkeys seeking out hens will gobble at anything.

Last year, I took a day to go hike the Great Smoky Mountains and happened upon some Tennessee turkeys that were gobbling their heads off.

I must warn you the only turkey call I had with me at the time was my own vocals, and they are not professional calls by any means. However, this proves that in order to call a turkey, you don't have to be a professional.

These gobblers were headed up a ridge where another tom was already strutting for some hens. Needless to say, they were late to the party. However, when they arrived, they fought and spurred each other like there was no tomorrow.

I wasn't able to record that because it happened so fast. If you haven't visited the Great Smoky Mountains, I highly encourage you to. It's full of turkeys, elk, whitetails, black bear and so much more flora and fauna.
