Tennessee Man Wins $500,000 Forrest Wood Cup

Brad Knight grew up with aspirations to be a pharmacist. Winning one of the biggest prizes in bass history, however, has cemented his status as a professional angler.

A monumental win for a Morgan County angler has seen his bank account increase dramatically.

Brad Knight took home top honors in the Forrest Wood Cup, earning a half-million-dollar pay day – money that he intends to put towards paying off his home and his daughter’s future college education.

Fishing the circuit has not always been an easy one for Knight, with a mixture of good years and bad. Starting out, Knight would travel the tour solo while his wife worked in the nursing field and cared for their young daughter.

Last year the couple put all of their fish in one net – Knight’s wife Becky managed the business end while her husband fished. This partnership proved successful.

Knight finished the four-day tournament with a total weight of 51-pounds, 12-ounces, edging his closest competitor by nearly four pounds.

Not bad for a guy who almost chose a pharmacy over a fishing rod.
