Looking for a special keepsake to hang on the wall? You might want to think about a hand-painted turkey feather by this talented artist.
Nicole Weller Larson is not only a passionate hunter, she is also a self-taught painter, with an incredible talent for turning turkey feathers into detailed and creative works of art.
Although she got her start with drawing and painting at a young age, it wasn’t until 2007 – and from the urging of a friend – that she took up the challenge of applying paint to a turkey feather. She hasn’t looked back since.
Wildlife and nature scenes are favorite subjects of this talented artist, but whitetail deer are definitely at the top of her painting list – with dogs a close second.
All feathers are from turkey Larson has personally harvested – and each comes with a special story about that particular bird when your treasured keepsake arrives. Customers can also provide their own feathers to be painted.
A feather typically takes 5 – 10 hours to complete, and as this image shows, the attention to detail is impeccable.
Feathers will come to you framed in a pine or cedar shadow box frame, unless discussed otherwise. Feathers are framed with a colored matte backing (color of your choice) and include a hanger.
Larson is currently taking feather orders and is happy, and more than capable, to re-create any image you may want – whether it be a personal best buck, duck dog companion, or a favorite fish. The possibilities really are endless.
Nicole Weller Larson is a gifted artist, a new mother, and a proficient hunter. She gets our tip of the hat for that envious trifecta.
