Submersible Goes Searching for Whale Songs, What It Finds is Remarkable [VIDEO]

Follow the surreal journey of two submersible pilots in search of a whale song.

Renowned submersible designer Graham Hawkes and his co-pilot Lee Behel took the DeepFlight Super Falcon submersible into the depths of Hawaii’s underwater valleys. Their objective: use the submersible’s hydrophones to search for whale songs, the calls of the humpback whales that swim into the valleys to mate. When they identify the whale song, they hope to spot the whales in action.

Watch the video to see the underwater adventure unfold:

We certainly wish we get a chance to wave at a whale someday, how about you?

The depths of these oceanic valleys are difficult to reach without some sort of vehicular assistance, and Hawkes and Behel were certainly some of the first, if not the very first, folks to ever have that perspective.
